About the event
The dissertation is known as the capstone of doctoral education. Planning and writing one, however, is often a confusing, stressful, and solitary endeavor. If you are a graduate student in the Social Sciences or Humanities preparing to start your dissertation this year, join supportive peers from across institutions for the first seminar in our Discerning Dissertating series. This Spring 2025 we are offering Planning the Dissertation.
Through six live, virtual meetings over six weeks, we'll unpack the hidden curriculum of the dissertation process; explore the transition from coursework to research; discuss choosing advisors and committee members; think through developing a prospectus; learn tools for effective project management; and much more. Come join us!
*Note - "Planning the Dissertation" is the first course in our Discerning Dissertating 4-seminar series. Upcoming courses and cohorts address later stages of the dissertation process: Launching (actually commencing research), Navigating (the day-to-day process of dissertating, and Completing the dissertation.
